Celebrating the best in UK Transport and Logistics, the Motor Transport Awards is a major event on the calendar each year.
With Logistics high on the agenda at the moment and the general public finally getting to see the crucial roles that companies across our sector carry out, it is fitting that this shortlist acknowledges some of the great work that has been done this year.
This year’s shortlist includes companies involved in all aspects of the supply chain and is another great example of how important transport and logistics is to the UK.
All of us here at Abbey Logistics are thrilled to have been shortlisted in three categories:
For our work with Hovis where we have worked shoulder to shoulder to modernise the Hovis supply chain to create operational visibility, dependability and flexibility in the supply of flour to Hovis’ bakeries, reduced costs, improved working practices and built true engagement from our teams on site and driving our vehicles.
A joint submission with British Sugar. Formed in 2016, the Abbey Logistics and British Sugar team has developed in to a fully integrated, cost effective and secure business alliance, which practices, shares and promotes teamwork in every aspect of the contract. Through close collaboration, Abbey Logistics has become an extension of the British Sugar Logistics team that supports British Sugar’s national delivery network.
Abbey’s driver training department is a data driven, evidence based source for continuous improvement across the whole business bringing costs down, improving driver retention, reducing incidents, greater interaction with our customers, and generating better engagement with our driver team. We’ve invested heavily in our driver training team and its great to see the work we have done is considered as one of the best in class.
In addition to Abbey being shortlisted, Think Logistics, the industry initiative founded by our CEO Steve Granite has also been recognised. This submission is in celebration of the partnership that has been formed between Think Logistics and Career Ready and more than 40 of the UK’s leading Logistics companies, working side by side to become what is now, the UK’s largest talent development initiative in the logistics
sector.
We are delighted that the judges at Motor Transport have recognised the hard work and progress our teams have made this year across the business and are equally pleased to be alongside some fantastic submissions from companies across the sector.
The awards are scheduled for 27th August and are being held at Grosvenor House, London.
