Abbey Logistics Group (ALG) is pleased to announce the extension of its partnership with British Sugar. This marks the third contract extension since 2016, solidifying a commitment that has spanned eight years to date and highlighting the success and strength of the partnership between the two industry leaders.
Throughout the years, ALG has cultivated a robust and knowledgeable team dedicated to providing world-class customer service, prioritising safety, and ensuring legal compliance. Recognised by British Sugar as the lead logistics partner for bulk finished product deliveries, ALG has consistently achieved an “Abbey Delivery on Time” performance (within 30 mins of the requested delivery time) in excess of 99% for the last two years, underscoring Abbey’s dependability, flexibility and effectiveness in meeting delivery deadlines.
As part of this extended partnership, ALG is introducing 23 new DAF tractor units into its fleet for British Sugar. Simultaneously, ALG is expanding its capabilities by adding alternative specification tankers as well as running extensive trials with alternative fuel vehicles and product discharge systems. This extended partnership and fleet expansion underscore Abbey Logistics Group’s dedication to providing innovative, reliable, and sustainable logistics solutions, further solidifying its position as a key player in the industry.
Matthew Parsons, General Manager for British Sugar, said: “British Sugar is a prestigious customer of Abbey’s and a cornerstone in the company’s success and history. The two companies have worked closely together for a very long time, and the relationship is going from strength to strength. We are very proud to be British Sugar’s chosen logistics partner for bulk sugar distribution and look forward to working towards an even greater service offering to British Sugar’s customers over the coming year.”
With an investment of £3.3 million, this fleet enhancement reaffirms ALG’s ongoing commitment to its partnership with British Sugar and aligns with an agreed fleet replacement policy. The introduction of these new units, coupled with ongoing fleet investments in recent years, will significantly reduce the average fleet age to less than 2.5 years, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
